Messages
Your browser encrypts a message before it is sent. We receive and store only the encrypted text, which we cannot read, plus its expiry time, the number of allowed opens, and hashes that let us check a reader has the full link or the right password. The message is deleted as soon as it has been opened the allowed number of times, is shredded by the sender, gets 4 wrong passwords, or expires, whichever comes first. A small record without any content stays until the original expiry time, so the sender’s manage link can show what happened. Then it is wiped too.
Encrypted messages are stored with Cloudflare, Inc. in its European Union jurisdiction. Cloudflare processes this data on our behalf.
Visits and analytics
Message and manage pages load nothing from other companies and run no analytics. Our other pages use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
We do not keep request logs with message IDs. Like every website, Cloudflare handles your IP address to deliver pages and to block abuse (for example rate limits). We don’t store it with your messages and don’t use it to identify you.
Cookies
None. If you pick a colour theme, your choice is kept in your own browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what data we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. Because we cannot link messages to people, in practice we hold no personal data about message senders or readers. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
