# Wi-Fi QR code generator

> Enter your network name and password to get a QR code that iPhones and Android phones can scan to join your Wi-Fi straight away. The code is made in your browser, so your Wi-Fi password never leaves your device.

This tool runs in the browser at /wifi-qr-code-generator/; nothing it makes is sent to the server.

## How guests use it

Guests open their phone camera and point it at the code. A “Join network” button appears, and they are connected. This works on iPhone (iOS 11 and later) and on most Android phones.

## Where to put it

Print it for a guest room, a meeting room or a holiday rental, or keep it on your phone to show visitors. Anyone who can see the code can join, so don’t hang it where passers-by can photograph it.

For a guest network, change the password every now and then and print a new code.

## Sending the password instead

If the person isn’t in the room, send the Wi-Fi details in a temp.cool link that self-destructs after reading. See the guide on [sharing a Wi-Fi password](/guides/share-wifi-password/).
